In accordance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) requirements, the maximum total balance you can hold across all currencies in your YouTrip wallet at any time is RM20,000.
In some situations, your balance may temporarily exceed this limit, such as when you receive a refund for a cancelled or modified transaction.
If your total balance exceeds RM20,000, the excess amount will be automatically refunded in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) to the most recent card you used to top up your YouTrip wallet. You do not need to take any action.
The refund should appear on your bank or credit card statement within 5–10 business days.
To prevent foreign currency fluctuations from causing your balance to exceed the wallet limit, the refund amount may be rounded to the nearest RM10, which may result in you receiving a slightly higher amount.
What happens if the refund is sent to a cancelled or expired card?
If the card used for your most recent top-up has been cancelled or expired, the card-issuing bank will generally redirect the refund to your replacement card. If you do not have a replacement card, the bank may refund the amount directly to your bank account or issue a cheque.
For information on your available refund options, please contact the bank that issued your card.
Why is the excess amount refunded in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)?
The excess amount is refunded in MYR to help avoid additional foreign exchange costs or markups that may otherwise be charged by your card issuer or bank.
What exchange rate is used to convert my balance to MYR?
Your balance is converted to MYR using the applicable YouTrip Wholesale Exchange Rate at the time the refund is processed.
